                                                       Famous Phi Phis

It was the time of April 291867 when the first group was started by the twelve females at Monmouth College. It was known as I.C. Sorosis, Pi Beta Phi was put into use as the covert motto and in the year 1888 with the change in times it was known as Pi Phis. A need was felt by these females for some friendly association by the various groups on the campus and eventually made a decision to begin an association for the females.

Ms. Jennie, M.D. (1845-1881) - She was the first female doctor whom started the study of medicine. She was the first lady who took a major step and took the work with a more noble reason.

Ms. Emma (1845-1881) – She was the first president of Pi Beta Phi. The coat of arms of Pi Beta Phi is originated from the Brownlee family.

Ms. Rosa(1849-1924) – She was kind hearted and always ready to help others. She spend most of her times functioning for the missionaries. She was of the view that one should help to the maximum for everybody.

Ms. Libbie (1850- 1933) – She founded the second chapter of at Iowa Wesleyan University and she was the youngest founder. She was responsible for setting up Pi Beta Phi. She was of the view that there are more important relations than the holier relationships.

Ms. Fannie (1848-1868) – She was blessed with a beautiful voice and despite of her short status of her membership she remained dedicated and passionate member. She was of the view that the females should be more independent.

Ms. Nancy (1845-1918) – She was the first secretary of Pi Beta Phi. She said that she was happy and proud of Pi Phi group that it has reacted for providing the real service for enhancing the position of the women.

Ms. Clara (1850-1931) – She was the younger sister of Ms. Emma. She was tender and of shy nature but in need she was always ready to help and had remarkable strength.
